Outstanding Features
The neighbourhood of Santa Catalina is to be found on a hillock of the city brushing arms with the neighbourhoods of Son Españolet and of Son Armadans. It is one of the typical zones of "Ciutat de Palma" as it is called by the inhabitants. It has a well-known market called "Mercat de Santa Catalina" or Mercado de Santa Catalina, which still conserves the flavour of the traditional markets of Mallorca and where it is possible to buy typical products from the Majorcan countryside and from Mallorca in general.
Historically it was a fishing neighbourhood of Mallorca, as its location was very near to the sea, this gave way to (and are still conserved) the typical dwellings of one or two stories, with their characteristic terraces with facades with Majorcan shutters, some of them have a small garden which allows us to remember what the neighbourhood was like, in not so far off times; Santa Catalina conserves the style of neighbourhoods with low houses and quiet tranquil streets.
Aquatic Activities
Palma de Mallorca is one of the best places in the world to practice sailing, in the Bay of Palma, which is the geographical element which has had the most impact over the city, during its centuries of history. For the practice of this disciplined sport, there are a variety of sports clubs amongst which the most outstanding are the Real Club Náutico de Palma, Escuela de vela Calanova and Club Náutico de Portitxol.
Golf Courses
The Club de Golf Son Vida and Son Gual are perfect choices for the playing of this noble sport.

Santa Catalina is known as the Soho of Palma de Mallorca. It has earned this nickname because it is a neighbourhood with a certain bohemian air about it, good restaurants, some alternative medicine businesses and an excellent market. The area of Santa Catalina has an amazing vitality, for which reason it has become very popular and in great demand in recent years.
