Esporles is a municipality of the island of Majorca situated in the area of the Tramuntana Mountain Range. It is to be found at a distance of about 15 kilometres from Palma, the capital city. The village is divided into the ´Vilavella´ and the ´Vilanova´ (older and newer part). The economy was originally based on agriculture and livestock, which can be seen its farm museum ´Sa Granja´. Nowadays, as the majority of the Balearic Islands, it is based on tourism. The textile industry was also very important in its day, of which some remains can still be seen, such as factories or buildings, at present empty. The majority of these are being transformed into homes. Within its territory there are also some small urbanizations, such as ´Ses Rotgetes de Canet´ and ´Es Verger´.
