Our favourite Tramuntana Mountains village route

The majestic Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range in Mallorca extends from Andratx to the tip of Formentor. It is home to some of the most scenic villages on the island and captivates any nature lover.

The Tramuntana mountain range was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. Travelling through it allows visitors to take in the breathtaking scenery, such as the Cúber reservoir, the never-ending marjades (dry stone walls), or the picture-perfect villages of Valldemossa, Formalutx and Deià with their winding cobbled streets.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nova Mallorca Real Estate Agency invites you to tour the most beautiful villages in the Tramuntana mountains. They are required stops on any itinerary if you want to discover the island's most picturesque corners.

Strolling through Valldemossa, Fornalutx and Deià

The villages of the Sierra de Tramuntana combine mountain views, cobbled walks and viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. They are ideal stops on an unforgettable journey to experience the authentic traditions of Mallorca.

Valldemossa

This attractive fairytale village is only a 15-minute drive from Palma. Its centre boasts a wealth of romantic pedestrian streets, cobbled and embellished with plants and flowers, traditional cafés and restaurants, and hotels with magnificent views.

Visit Valldemossa to see the convent cells where pianist Frédéric Chopin and author George Sand lived from November 1838 to February 1839. Alternatively, stroll through the gardens of the Real Cartuja (Royal Charterhouse) or ascend to the Puig des Teix's peak for a 1058-metre panorama of the town. Visitors may also indulge in the town's gastronomic speciality, the famed coca de patata

Fornalutx

Fornalutx is a hidden treasure tucked away deep in the mountains above Sóller. The stone houses, narrow cobbled streets, and traditional architecture give Fornalutx a distinct atmosphere, enhanced by the fragrance of orange trees pervading the township.

It is, without a doubt, a must-see for bikers and hikers who wish to get to know one of Spain's most beautiful villages first-hand.

Deià

Those passing through the villages of the Sierra de Tramuntana must stop at Deià, famous for its steep cobblestone alleys and stone cottages, and for being home to one of Mallorca's most iconic sunsets: the Sa Foradada viewpoint. It is close to the Son Marroig estate, another spectacular must-see right at the village's entrance.
