Majorca is able to get together nationalities from all around the world. People who cross the globe not only to enjoy a few days at the beach but to settle and form a family. By family I mean kids and with kids comes the important moment of choosing a school. However, which school?

Fortunately Majorca, more precisely the municipalities of Palma and Calvia, count on numerous international schools which conduct their lessons in English, German or French. The possibility for your kinds, when moving to another country, to continue studying in the same language or the great advantage of learning a new one can be very attractive and for their future an enormous present.

The system that the international schools follow is the same as in their country of reference and in the majority the future students have to take an entry "exam" or test (usually a language one) and a personal interview with both the student and the parents. If the language they want to study in is not their first language, the school will pay special notice to your specific case.  Let us be logic½ with little knowledge of the language a student is not going to study sixth form in German.

Queens College is a small British school of not more than 400 students, which makes it seem like a big family. Year after year the college obtains excellent academic results and their students are able to reach the most prestigious universities.

The Academy is the only British school located outside Palma and Calvia and due to this is able to offer important and private sporting facilities, which include an indoor pool, a tennis court and a football pitch. For the big schools this is no big news but for the international ones it can be real luxury.

Bellver was the first British school to settle in Spain, more precisely in 1950, and its students count on the advantage of following the British system, including its exams, without forgetting the Spanish one. The school offers preparatory lessons in order to face "selectividad" and therefore the students can choose to study inside or outside Spain.

King Richard III was founded as the first American school in the island but in 2001 changed to follow the British educational system. In its small and welcoming facilities there is also place for the Spanish system and their teachers do not hesitate to offer "extra" lessons to those who wish to study in Spain.

Agora is the only school in Majorca where the students are able to undertake the International Baccalaureate, a very complicated system but with shining opportunities for the future. Its main emphasis is on being multilingual, therefore its students have the possibility of learning German, French, Chinese and Russian. Its infrastructures can be considered the best in the island. Wide classrooms, three science labs, football, basketball and rugby courts, indoor pool, covered sporting court, cafeteria, the school shop and a restaurant. What else?

Palma College is the last one to enter the list but is already making its way through. It is a school exclusively for sixth form and is located in the heart of Palma. As the number of students is not large and most of them are at the doors of finishing school their main focus is on preparing them for the near future. We must not forget the Lycée français, which follows the French system. Its students are mainly natives but there is also place for other nationalities as apart from French you can also learn English, Spanish and Catalan. From there comes its motto "4 languages, 3 cultures." Although it has the charm of being a house its outdoor opportunities are limited and that is why they have decided to move, next year, to Sa Taulera where they will enjoy more space and more activities.
