The Balearic Museum of Natural Sciences

In 1980 a group of naturalists decided to fund a museum whose aim was going to be to keep and continue to create a natural history museum and botanical gardens in Sóller. It was an idea to show locals and tourists the beauty of our surroundings.

With the help of naturalists, researchers, scientists and the public the museum was able to open its doors to the public on the 9th of May of 1992. It has, since then, been a great success and a great way of keeping people aware of the importance of preserving Majorca's natural heritage.

The facilities it can offer are immense including five exhibition rooms, an audiovisual and conference room, a reading room, a library, a shop and specialists to help with any doubts or questions.

What is best about this museum is the practical activities it has to offer. These activities are carried out throughout the whole year for people of all ages. Currently the museum is offering a course on seagrass carbonate production. It is especially addressed to science students however anyone can take part. Other activities that are currently taking place are the Easter workshops for children, where they will discover, learn and enjoy science. Apart from these special events, on-going activities for kids and adults are present weekly in the museum. A good way to get the family together and an even better way of having fun learning. Don't miss the chance to visit it!
