In Mallorca there is a deep tradition towards the collection of mushrooms for gastronomic intentions. When we reach the autumn season and the weather conditions are appropriate they begin to appear and the locals begin their search. The mountain paths, routes and many areas of the island get full of experts wanting to fill their baskets and bring home the best mushrooms.

As normal, every tradition deserves a festivity and therefore, so does the mushroom search. It is so common and enjoyed in Majorca that it does not deserve one but two and that is why Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, situated in the region of Llevant, celebrates on the 21st of November the second gastronomic boletus fair.

During the fair the visitors will be able to get to all the details about the various types of mushrooms. They will learn the most important part of this tradition which is being able to recognize the different types and to know which ones ca be eaten. Pay attention at this point as a small error could cause a great disaster! They will also learn about the different ways to cook them and what they like most½ they will be able to get to try some prepared by the chef Tomeu Caldentey owner of the restaurant Taronja Negre.

During the fair carious stalls and stands will be set out offering fresh and recently collected mushrooms for the visitors to buy and enjoy at home, and be sure these have a special taste!
