Palma Cathedral - in the top ten most visited monuments in Spain.
The Cathedral of Palma "La Seu" is one of the most common tourist attractions of the island and of Spain as a whole. This is more than proven as it holds the 7
th position in a ranking elaborated by the Spanish Tourist Office that shows the most visited monuments in Spain.
This jewel of gothic architecture was built during the reign of Jaime I and is situated in the old town of the city between the Royal Palace of La Almudaina and the episcopal palace facing the sea. Its architecture makes every part of it worthy of admiration however, it is especially known for having the biggest rosette in the gothic world with a diameter of around 13,8m. Due to this rosette we are able to enjoy the magnificent games of light on the interior of the façade that take place twice year. The Chapel of Saint Peter also causes amusement amongst the visitors as it was reformed a few years ago by the artist Miquel Barceló. The art piece consists on a mural of contemporary work representing the miracle of the multiplication of bread and fish "el milagro de la multiplicación de los panes y los peces."
On the list we can also find other beautiful monuments that our country has to offer. On the top of the list we find the Alhambra in Granada, the Basilica of the Sacred Family and the Mosque of Cordoba. In the fourth position we find the Cathedral of Santiago, followed by the Cathedral of Burgos and Seville´s Alcazar.
