Joan Miró exhibition at the train station of Sóller

Last Thursday 16^th of October, Joan and Teo Punyet Miró inaugurated an exhibition focused on the graphic works of their grandfather Joan Miró. The exhibition, that has already received many visits, is open every week from Tuesday to Saturday until the month of March. The location could not be better as it creates the best atmosphere to embrace the beautiful works of Miró. It will be located at the train station of Sóller where the old sheds have now become large art galleries.

Joan Punyet felt extremely satisfied with the inauguration and stated that he was delighted to see that everyone could enjoy that wonderful architecture that was, as he said, "industrial, centenary and inaugurated the same day the Titanic sunk down." He explained that the exhibition counts on different pieces including three unique copper plates without a title, a signature or a date. The last plate was a present from Joan Miró to Joan Punyet´s father and it inspired the poem of Pi de Formentor.

The other pieces display the great attachments that Miró had with the world that surrounded him and especially with Majorca, a territory that he loved. His early graphic works were produced around 1930 and display the same combination of precision and spontaneity through the use of free flowing lines, splattered ink, and colour. He became a master of lithography, experimenting with shape, form, and colour. His works show a mystic and imaginative side of him that can also be appreciated in the series Les Revenants. The assistants confirmed that the pieces are of great quality and that they will definitely contribute to the promotion of the city of Palma.
