International Women´s Day

The 8th of March is a very special day for our society, especially for women. It is a celebration and a day dedicated to the achievements of women during our history and during our present. It especially honors the "suffragettes", the women that with great strength campaigned for women's right to vote. They changed our history and deserve to be reminded for their success.

The first IWD was held in 1911 and since then it has been a popular celebration in many countries. In some, such as, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, China (for women only), Cuba, Georgia, Guinea-Bissau, Eritrea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Madagascar (for women only), Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nepal (for women only), Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia it is already recognized as an official holiday.

As great improvements have been made and now we do have female prime ministers and influential women changing the world in Majorca this holiday is celebrated. On the 8^th of March the women in Majorca are welcome to get together at Mood Beach Costa D´en Blanes to celebrate the 103^rd edition of this event. They will enjoy a small market, lunch and extraordinary speeches by inspiring women living in Majorca. The event begins at 9, 30 and the cost is of 20 Euros. All the money raised will go in favor of the associations RANA and Mediterranea ONG.

Other events will also be taking place on different places in Majorca, and some restaurants will be offering special meals for the occasion. Don't miss the chance to celebrate what women have achieved.
