This Friday Cort gives the starting signal for the Christmas festivities in Palma
Palma´s city council will switch on
the traditional Christmas lighting for the Christmas holidays of 2013, this Friday. From there on the citizens and visitors will be able to enjoy and take part in the numerous activities, among which include the outstanding Nativity scene created by local artisans in Cort and the Three King's Christmas Parade.
This Monday the Deputy Mayor Esperanza Crespí , pointed out that the government have endeavoured to design an attractive
Christmas program where most of the activities are free of charge and aimed at families and especially children. These activities include the main festivities and also small local crafts and fairs.
Like every year the act that will start the celebrations is the switching-on of the Christmas lighting, a special event accompanied by some of the traditional Majorcan music bands like: Los Xeremiers, Conservatorio Municipal Elemental de Música or Maria Bimbolles. Also on this day, The Mayor of Palma, Mateo Isern will inaugurate the Nativity scene. One of the treasures of Majorca and a must see during the festivities. It is very detailed and gives Cort an amazing Christmassy ambience. Next to the Nativity scene there will be a postbox directed specifically to the children, who can send their wishes to the three kings.
Palma is a city that gets very involved in Christmas and everyone makes an effort to make it feel very special at this time of the year. This is a great opportunity to stop by the centre, have a nice cup of hot chocolate and enjoy a special evening surrounded by the best atmosphere.
