ENJOY THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!

Christmas is here. And with it, lots of lights come to cities, streets and homes.

Despite the fact that much has been said about the convenience and sustainability of the tradition of Christmas lights, due to their energy expenditure, in cities like Palma de Mallorca they have found a good balance.

First of all, led lights have been incorporated, which save up to 80% of energy. In addition, the lights will be switched off at 10 pm, except on weekends, when they will go out at midnight.

Undoubtedly, the Christmas lights create an unique atmosphere and convert the city into a spectacular place to stroll and remain. La Rambla, Passeig del Born or Passeig Sagrera and many other streets and squares of the city are an impressive example of the successful new creations of Christmas lights, such as the trees decorated with fairy lights or the large balls and stars shining in alternating colours.

This Christmas there will be in Palma no less than 282 km of fairy lights, more than 1.100 illuminated trees, 1.000 light balls and 366 light arches, among other decorative figures. It is worth noting the 23-metre high Christmas tree with an interior passage located in the Parc de Ses Estacions, the large 12-metre star installed at Santa Catalina and the illuminated canopy that covers the town-hall square.

To this great atmosphere we must add the Christmas markets of the Plaza de España, Plaza Mayor, La Rambla or Vía Roma.
