Christmas arrives in Palma

In Palma de Mallorca we have always had the Christmas spirit very present during these holidays. The houses already have the aroma of Christmas sweets, marzipan and champagne and in this atmosphere the desire to celebrate Christmas is perceived.

This time, the lights are as pretty as every year. With their characteristic golden and warm tones, they illuminate the streets of Paseo del Borne, Cort, La Rambla and the entire city centre since Wednesday, November 24. The event did not have an official “switching on” ceremony to avoid crowds, although it did have a traveling show under the name of "Cortlight" organized by Grupo Tui to start Christmas as it deserves.

Palma City Council incorporates this year more elements and more illuminated streets. Angelica Pastor, Councillor for Infrastructures and Accessibility points out that "every year we are improving in terms of locations and expanding Christmas lighting so that it reaches all neighbourhoods".

This year, the city will have 4.200 elements, 415 kilometres of garlands and 1.074 illuminated trees, including the traditional Parc de la Mar tree and, as a novelty, two ten-meter-high trees located in Ses Estacions and Jaime III. Also as a novelty, new neighbourhoods and streets are incorporated into the lighting, which already add to the 135 illuminated streets and squares. Among the novelties, the street Roselló, Cazador and Pascual Ribot stand out.

Take a walk around the city to enjoy Christmas in Palma

At Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nova Mallorca real estate we consider that churros with chocolate and chestnuts are a good excuse to take a walk around the city at this time of year. But, even if one is not a chocolate lover, going to see the incredible tents that frame the Cort Square with its respected olive tree or the golden balls and trees that illuminate the Paseo del Borne will undoubtedly be worth it.

From Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nova Mallorca we wish you a happy December; a beautiful month full of happy moments to enjoy with family and friends. We want to remind the little ones that the Royal mailbox is now open and that they should not delay in writing their letter to the Three Kings, they will surely be looking forward to it! The doors of the Town Hall of Cort are also open to visit its famous Nativity Scene, a perfect plan for the next few days.
