Adventures on two wheels
Adventures on two wheels.
Sometimes we forget to maximize what the island itself has to offer, and by that I mean the island´s landscapes, its beaches, its mountains and in this case especially its roads. We usually think of roads as simply a measure of transport however there is much more to the roads our island encloses.
Majorca is the perfect location for great rides due to its great climate as the Mediterranean remains much sunnier and warmer than the northern Europe. Adding on to the climate the island is blessed with some brilliant roads such as the MA2041 to Sa Calobra considered one of the most scenic drives in the world. It is a fairly short road with a length of 13km. It passes over the Coll des Reis and then drops 600m down to the sea in six steep miles which include the famous Nus de Sa Calobra, a curve of 360 degrees than turns 270 degrees and goes under itself. It holds the name of the snake like road due to the approximately 800 curves it contains from the city centre to the Calobra Creek.
This is not the only special road in Majorca, there are many others that hold many secrets. The Ma10 itself is stunning and covers the length of the island with views towards both the mountain and the sea. The Ma2130 that runs over Sa Bataia and the Ma11a over Soller are also spectacular and hold many secrets. Be brave and discover them!
